University of Bayreuth WKZ North

To supply the university campus in Bayreuth, the “warm and cold center North” was expanded by an iKWK project.

For this purpose, a natural gas car generates electricity for the public network and feeds the heat into the “90 °C heat network” of the Uni-Campus.

Two heat pumps were installed to supply the “50 °C heat grid”. The energy required for the operation of the heat pumps is provided from the ambient air with the aid of two recooling systems.

Technical data:

  • Brake: 3.360 kWel / 3.168 kWth
  • 2 heat pumps: 680 kWth each
  • 2 Recoolers: 531 kWth each
