winner of the Energy Efficiency Award 2022

Berlin, 14.11.2022:

together with GEA Refrigeration Germany GmbH and the Stadtwerken Neuburg an der Donau AGO GmbH Energie + Anlagen den Energy Efficiency Award 2022 in the category “To achieve more together! Energy services as an enabler of the energy transition”.

The AGO in cooperation with GEA Refrigeration develops a high temperature heat pump with the natural working agent ammonia, with which it can reach a temperature of up to 150° C. Industrial companies, municipal works and municipalities can convert their heat supply, which is now generated by natural gas used, to a CO2-free heat supply.

Within the framework of BMWK-funded R & D projects, the world's first high-temperature heat pump of this kind was realized together with the Stadtwerken Neuburg an der Donau. A core component in the systems is the piston compressor, which GEA specially designed for heat pump applications.

With the Energy Efficiency Award, the German Energy Agency (dena) has been awarding innovative and creative entrepreneurs since 2007, which with their projects and concepts increase energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gases. The price is €30,000. The nominees and winners also receive a seal for their public relations work.

The focus is on projects to save energy and CO2 as well as concepts that show how the path to climate neutrality and the transformation of industry can succeed. As patron of the Energy Efficiency Award 2022, Federal Government and Climate Protection Minister Robert Habeck was able to be won. The Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) and the KfW promote competition.
