AGO GmbH Energie und Anlagen wins the Bavarian Energy Award 2022

Munich, 19.10.2022:

The Bavarian Energy Award 2022 of the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy has now become the AGO GmbH Energy + plants awarded. The Kulmbach company received the main prize for its newly developed high-temperature heat pump for industrial and municipal heat supply. The prize will be awarded to companies that are particularly distinguished in the areas of new energy technologies, renewable energy and energy efficiency in Bavaria.

The award received AGO Energy + installations from Kulmbach for the world’s first high-temperature heat pump called “AGO Calora”, which it developed on the basis of the natural fabric pair ammonia/water and with which heat supply of up to 150 °C is possible.
The heat demand in industry and also in district heating is often well above 100 °C at temperatures and has hitherto been almost exclusively covered by the combustion of fossil fuels. Together with the Stadtwerken Neuburg an der Donau has AGO Therefore, last year a first demonstration plant with about 1 megawatt heating power is built, in which the heat from a low-temperature heat network is used as a heat source and fed into a hot water network for supplying a 135 °C malting plant. With this successfully patented heat pump solution, CO2-free heat supply is possible on an industrial scale from about 0.5 megawatt to about 10 megawatts per heat pump and uniquely high efficiency.

Since 1999, the renowned Bavarian Energy Award has been awarded by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs every two years in five categories, each of which is worth 4,000 euros. In addition, the 10,000 euro prize will award a particularly outstanding performance and cutting-edge technology.
